The Fall of the Spiritual Elite
Saturn at 29 degrees Pisces
(Note: This article was originally published on my Substack while Saturn was at 29 degrees Pisces. As of the date of publication here, Saturn has moved into the early degrees of Aries).
We are witnessing the fall of the elite.
And if you’ve been paying attention, we’ve been witnessing this fall for a little bit now.
But we are now starting to see it spread over into the spiritual/new age community.
And it’s worth your time and attention to notice it.
If you’ve been tapped into the collective spiritual sphere in the last few weeks, you may have seen the conversations popping up around the latest episode in a very influential/famous podcast - the “Aubrey Marcus Podcast”. The conversations have been around getting lost in the new age, discernment, ungrounded spirituality, and so much more. However, the loudest conversation has been about the distortion of divine union that is discussed in the episode.
I’m not going to dive into each and every topic that’s been brought up. That’s not the purpose of my post. What I want to touch on is the witnessing of the fall. The fall of the “spiritual elites”, the people with the massive podcasts and social media followings, the people making millions selling empowerment, wealth and unintegrated plant medicine / stories from a place of little to no actual embodiment. These “spiritual elites” as I’ll call them through the rest of this article have raised my alarm bells for years. I’d estimate it’s been at least three to four years since I unfollowed the social media accounts and podcasts of these big players in spirituality because the more grounded I have become, the more I’ve trusted my discernment, the more that I have been unable to stomach their words, teachings, and energy.
What I find relieving is how more people are waking up to notice that many of the spiritual people the collective idolizes are the exact ones we should be deeply questioning. There is another podcast series that was released earlier this year about a powerful, well known spiritual mentor “Betty” and the gaslighting, abuse, and power trips she inflicted (and likely still inflicts) on her clients. Another example of a powerful person in the spiritual space, operating from a place of, at best, low integrity, at worst, darkness, finally being looked at with discernment.
I didn’t want to listen to the podcast mentioned above, which was about “Radical Monogamy,” because I knew I wasn’t going to resonate with it.
(Side note: I am deeply committed to the journey of devotion and union with one partner. I have considered other models in the past and have found absolutely no truth in them for myself and my path. I also do not judge if your path is different than mine. But it is important to note that my writing and opinion are influenced by my belief that learning to be in loving, devoted, committed relationship with a beloved is a great spiritual lesson in this life.)
However, I did listen to the podcast. And it was a skin-tingling (in a bad, creepy way) listen. And not because of the subject matter specifically. But because the energetic dissonance was audible and palpable. I could hear the somatic disembodiment in the conversation. In short, it deserves all the negative commentary it’s been receiving online. It was a conversation where I could literally hear the distortions in real time. The proclaimed messages from God, the unintegrated use of plant medicine, the use of spiritual jargon to justify following a selfish ego desire. Again, creepy, disingenuous, and absolutely incredible. Because it’s exactly the kind of spotlight that we need to expose the shadows of the spiritual elite.
If you take anything from this, please let it be this: stop following the powerful, famous, popular spiritual influencers and podcasters. Seriously, every single one of them. Go do a social media clear out.
I’ve been directly involved in this spiritual world for over 6 years. I have met a lot of people on the spiritual path. I have listened to a lot of popular spiritual teachers. And I have personally had painful experiences, and heard stories from others who had distorted /painful /or just plain shitty experiences from interactions with these “spiritual elites”.
In the Pluto in Capricorn, Neptune in Pisces era, we saw a major rise in spiritual teachers, influencers, and seekers. But as the era has been changing - Pluto moving into Aquarius, Neptune into Aries, and soon, Saturn into Aries, we have started to see the cracks in the system that was built. The “New Age” spiritual systems are dying. You’ve probably heard before that we’re entering the era of becoming your own guru, a phrase that has been bandied about for years. Yeah, well, we finally are about to. As we witness the fall of the present spiritual elites, or “gurus”, we will finally experience what it really means to become our own guides. And learn to only trust those who can guide us from a place of integrity, discernment, and grounded awareness.
We are in the last few days of Saturn in Pisces (for the summer at least), meaning that Saturn is at the anoretic degree, 29. This is the karmic degree. The degree where anything that is karmic and twisted and hasn’t fallen yet must fall. We will see Saturn at 29 degrees Pisces twice more over the autumn and early 2026 before Saturn moves into Aries to stay. Expect to see more spiritual (Pisces) elites fall. Expect to see more cracks in the foundation exposed. Be aware of who you are giving your time, money, energy, and attention to.
Throughout this whole Saturn in Pisces transit, I have undergone massive transformation. I have taken large amounts of time off of social media, I have temporarily cut back on the number of clients I have worked with, so that I could focus on two things: First, the creation of my union with my partner. Second, the dismantling of every place where I was connected into the old foundations of new age spirituality. A previous version of me could have walked into a temple and heard a “message” from god or goddess that was actually from my ego and taken it as truth (a reference to the podcast if you’ve listened). A previous version of me did a few too many psychedelic journeys without enough time to integrate between them. Previous versions of me went through a lot of hard lessons to learn how to land in my body, discernment, and spiritual awareness.
Saturn in Pisces is not just a transit that will continue to show us the fall of the powerful spiritual elites. It’s also a transit that has been asking us to acknowledge and sacrifice the distorted spiritual elite consciousness that lives within our minds, egos, and practices, so that we can help shepherd in the new era of awakening with a clear heart and discerning eyes.
I know I've used variations of the word discernment a ton of times in this piece. That’s because discernment is the most profound thing we can develop right now. Hopefully you’ve been developing it deeply over the past 2 years. And if you haven’t yet, expect to be initiated into deep discernment by life and spirit over the rest of the year.
I have felt a lot of hopelessness off and on over the years, looking at those who have been the spiritually powerful teachers / influencers/ podcasters etc. I have wondered how we, as a collective, would ever break through the veil of illusion I was seeing and create healthy, grounded, discerning spiritual groups, practices, etc.
Well, we are witnessing the crumbling. Now it’s up to us to decide how we are going to rebuild, and who we will give our time, attention, and support to.
Choose with discernment. Choose wisely.
