Reflections at the Beginning of Eclipse Season
This eclipse will also be happening on a new moon.
The eclipse will peak at 10 degrees Taurus at 1:28pm PST. So, if you are familiar with your natal astrological chart, take a look at where 10 degrees Taurus is in your chart. The house and any planets within a few degrees will feel it's impact in a BIG way.
Eclipses are when the light goes out, which is not something we tend to like, because the light is our strength. So, it's like our energetic strength goes out for a moment. The Sun, Uranus and the North Node are all in Taurus right now.
This eclipse is telling us to pay attention to how we're treating the Earth and how we are treating our resources. Taurus is an earthy, grounded sign. We may have things come up around our homes, or the way we make or spend our money.
Eclipses are historically known for being challenging, because they bring up shadows and triggers to be seen and healed. They take us into the darkness. There are great gifts in the challenges and in the darkness.
However, Venus will conjunct Jupiter right after the eclipse on Saturday. This is an incredibly supportive energy that may lessen the sharpness of the eclipse. Trust that whatever arises with this eclipse is for your greatest good. And with Venus and Jupiter in Pisces dancing in the mix, we will probably have an easier go of it. Good and Difficult, both.
Venus is a big player in this eclipse. This eclipse is ruled by Venus, because she is the ruling planet of Taurus. And Venus isn't just conjunction Jupiter, she also just had a conjunction with Neptune on the 27th. This is 'dream come true' energy.
With eclipses - it's important to rest, center, and check in with yourself. Go back to the basics - ground, sleep, journal, drink water. Eclipses are a turning point for us personally and collectively.
Our first eclipse in Taurus was in November 2021. .
So, take notice:
- What was going on in mid-end November for you during that last eclipse? Maybe check old journal pages or photos from that time to jog your memory.
- How are you working with that energy now? How has it moved, changed or shifted since that time, and is there more healing or letting go that you can do now?
Eclipses kick up shadows, they can be tumultuous, and are so often about endings and beginnings. Eclipses can be challenging, because they approach these territories very abruptly and the changes can feel shocking or sudden. Eclipse energy is like ripping the band aid off, or like a lightning strike. These changes can be internal or external, though with the Eclipse in Taurus, it is more likely to be external. But, check out your chart and then stay curious as to how it's showing up for you. Don't fight the changes, instead try to give yourself the space to process/grieve/rage as things come up.
The beginning of the week was really beautiful, supportive energy because we had so much in Pisces (Jupiter, Venus, moon). This is really good, abundant, happy energy. This week is so much about love and connection and abundance because of the Venusian energy. So, as the eclipse kicks up dirt, take a page out of Venus' book and tune into things that make your body feel happy and safe. Spa day, extra sleep, change in diet/exercise, time in nature, snuggling up with a loved one or a blanket, whatever you feel called towards. Self Care is your major ally at this time.
We have a few retrogrades coming up, as well. Retrogrades are also returns to the darkness, and a turn back into your internal world. Pluto goes retrograde in Capricorn on the 29th, and Mercury will go retrograde on May 10th.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is a very transformative time. The energy has been nonstop. My biggest piece of advice is to just relax into it, you can't change it, you can't fight it. That will only make it more difficult. You are being supported and loved through the darkness. You are in a process of evolution. You will come out of eclipse season better before. This is happening FOR you, not TO you. On a hard day, trust that it will end and a better day will come. And on a good day, enjoy it.
Happy eclipsing, dear one.
