How to support the physical body while doing energetic healing


Hi and welcome back to the blog! I started typing up this following post, thinking that I would put it on Instagram. But, it turned way too long, so I decided to bring it to the blog instead. I hope you enjoy this reflection on how we can support our physical bodies as we do energetic healing work.

If you’ve been following me for a while, or read my previous blog posts, it should be pretty clear by now that dis-ease in the body is caused by the energetic environment that is present in the body. This is why energetic, root cause healing is SO powerful and important along the healing journey. 

However, since we do live in physical bodies, it can be helpful to support our energetic healing with physical tools as well.

One very important physical tool is food. 

Now I’ve talked before on Instagram about how if you are in perfect alignment, I believe that you could eat anything and it wouldn’t affect you because you could fully neutralize its effects. I still believe this to be true and practice this myself. However, in the world we live in, full of pollutants, toxins, GMO food, and more, hitting a state of perfect alignment can be a little difficult. That’s why food can be important.


Interestingly, this has come up in many conversations with clients over the last few weeks, which is why I decided to bring this to my feed.


Now, to be clear, I do not subscribe to ANY dogmas about food or diets. There is NO one size fits all. There is NO such thing as “good food” or “bad food”. There are simply different ways that our bodies digest and integrate different foods, as well as different ways that foods are processed, stored, and prepared. By labeling these foods good or bad, we start to enter into disordered eating areas. Sure, processed food or the Standard American Diet (SAD) is inflammatory and more likely to create dis-ease in the body. But I’m not going to call that food bad. Instead, I’d call that food to be careful around. Don’t overdo it. Listen to if your body ACTUALLY wants that, or if you can satisfy your craving with something a little easier for the body to use, like an apple. I’ll say it again: No food is inherently good or bad. It simply is. Every food affects our bodies differently. It’s up to you to figure out which foods your body likes the best, and which foods it would prefer to avoid most of the time.

So, when it comes to eating to support your body, how can you best do so? Well, there are 3 suggestions I have for anyone looking to support their healing with food.

The first is to examine your relationship to caffeine, whether in tea or coffee and therefore your relationship to stress. Can you give that up or cut down on your daily consumption? Caffeine increases our stress response and anxiety, provokes our adrenals, and gives us energy that our body cannot support long term. When we become dependent on caffeine, we are overriding our body’s natural stress hormones and response and ignoring the warning signs that we are too tired and need rest. Over time, this can burn out the body. For example, I never got addicted to coffee because I can’t metabolize it, but I did get too dependent on caffeinated tea. With that source of caffeine + my constant state of being overstressed and overtraining, I burned out my adrenals. They crashed and burned, HARD. I had hormonal tests done and my body was not creating an ounce of adrenaline all day long. Because it couldn’t anymore. Over time, I’ve been able to energetically revitalize my adrenal glands. But never again will I consume caffeine on any kind of regular basis. Because it’s too inflammatory on the body!

And second, while we’re on the topic of caffeine, can you reduce your consumption of wheat? Coffee and wheat create similar levels of inflammation in the body, so if you’re already dealing with an inflamed body or brain, lessening your consumption of these two things can really help. Wheat is one of the most inflammatory foods that exist, especially in the US, because of how we produce and process it. There is a lot of information available about this, which explains it much better than I can, so I will let you look that up for yourself. Wheat is something I highly recommend removing from your diet for a few weeks at least to see how you feel without it.

And finally, I recommend the blood type diet. I’ve talked about this before, and it is the only way of eating that has ever stuck with me. It’s not dogmatic, it’s genetics-based, and it’s super easy to follow (plus even the doctor who created it doesn’t want you to follow it 100% of the time because that is not sustainable.) It’s easy to learn and apply, and it has been so healing for me. I even follow the exercise recommendations for my blood type, which has been so healing after years of intense workouts and overtraining which burned me out.

Above all, when incorporating food into your healing, it is important to make sure that you do not become dogmatic about your approach to healing. This is just as dangerous/unhealthy as not paying attention to how your fuel your body at all. This leads to disordered eating, which is definitely not the goal here. I want to empower you to make decisions that make your body feel good, not to make decisions that make you feel bad about your body, diet, or how you fuel yourself.
